Acreage Exterior Renovation
This home was built over 40 years ago by the clients and featured natural cedar siding prior to this renovation (see Before). After years of harsh winters and hot summers, the owners were interested in updating their weathered exterior as well as upgrading some windows and doors to more efficient products.
Opting for more durable products engineered to withstand Alberta’s climate, the clients chose products from James Hardie for the siding, shakes and trim, and LUX Architectural Panel for soffit and to wrap existing beams.
PRODUCTS
Wanting to stay true to the original home’s charm and character while also brightening and updating the look of their home, clients opted for a light beige exterior colour and a wood grain soffit, while tying in their grey decking and black handrails with a dark grey trim. The natural beige and wood grain tones keep the exterior looking traditional, while dark grey details add contrast and modernize the home.

BEAMS
The existing support beams were weathered and worn from years of exposure. Rather than leaving them as is, we opted to wrap the beams using LUX Architectural Panel in the same finish as the soffit. Not only are the beams protected from the elements, but they also match the updated exterior products used elsewhere and create a seamless design for this home.
BEFORE
Existing conditions show the original cedar lap siding, weathered beams, and front door. The dark cedar siding was replaced by light beige siding, beams wrapped with LUX Architectural Panel, and the front door updated to a more modern door with a larger window.
